My journey to Dru Yoga

I was a keen fan of yoga growing up. As a teenager and in my 20s, I used to do strong types of yoga where the motto was to 'breathe through the pain and discomfort'. All very well when I was younger!

Later on in my life, as a mum to two young girls, I was suffering from hip pain and low energy. I tried the types of yoga that I used to do but found they were no longer accessible or helpful for me.
One day I went to a local community hall open day and met a Dru Yoga teacher. I started to go to her classes. Little did I know, my life was about to completely change for the better.

About Dru

Dru Yoga is a soft, flowing form of yoga. The word 'Dru' means 'still point.'
Its gentle combination of movement and mindfulness is designed to encourage the experience of stillness in motion. It emphasises the importance of working within the range of movement that feels comfortable for you. If in doubt, leave it out!

After 6 months of going to Dru yoga classes, I found myself recovering and getting stronger. That's why in 2005 I decided to become a teacher myself.

In my classes, I make sure to provide modifications for my students, whether their needs come from injury, disability or simply feeling lower in energy on a particular day! My approach is designed to be mindful of your body's needs.
